The RECOLUTION team thinks: Nothing should be “fast” in the fashion industry. Because being fast often means making compromises. And that’s exactly what they don’t want. They have been working on their green revolution since 2010 – when fair fashion was not yet a popular hashtag. For a world with less stuff and more time for ideas, exchange and cohesion.
Vision
Recolution is now doing a pretty good job with its ecologically produced sweaters. But where should it go with it? The way the fashion industry deals with resources and people is also a mirror of our society: Sustainable streetwear is just the beginning. The long-term goal is to make city life fairer and cleaner.
Materials
Cotton and wood instead of petroleum: Recolution only uses fabrics where they can trace exactly where they come from. For example, the cotton is organic and GOTS certified, so it’s free of all the harmful stuff (bye-bye, pesticides!). They also sometimes use TENCEL™ or ECOVERO™ – the eco-friendly alternatives to viscose.
Production
Recolution produces for the most part in Europe. This shortens the way from the sewing machine to your closet. They work exclusively with manufacturers who are GOTS certified and have high quality standards. The machines are operated by experts who have a fair workplace.
Certificates
Certificates help you to recognize brands in the fashion jungle where sustainability is more than just empty talk. Like traffic signs that tell you where the dead end is and where you can turn. Recolution is certified by these independent organizations: GOTSand Peta-approved Vegan.
Social Activism
Fairness, eye-to-eye exchange…. What they expect from their producers is what Recolution measures their own behavior against outside the office. In the neighborhood, in the district: they support non-profit organizations with roots in Hamburg.
