The sustainable cuddly toys from PHIDAWORLD are handmade by indigenous peoples in Argentina. PHIDAWORLD supports the income of the villagers, allowing them to remain in their familiar settlements. The organic cotton they use grows on riverbank areas where a natural water supply can take place. Since the living conditions at the southern partners cannot be compared to European standards, it is essential for PHIDAWORLD to offer fair trade products. The Phida Kids products carry the label “Sello De Buen Diseño” (Design Award), as well as the quality certificate IRAM, which confirms the “safety standards for young children”.

On a long trip through different regions of Argentina in 2015, Mariell Blanco had the opportunity to travel to undiscovered, remote areas. This way Mariell got to know and understand better the indigenous peoples, their impressive and passionate crafts, as well as their culture. These women have a wonderful craft but no access to a larger platform. To build an economic livelihood or achieve financial independence, they need support, Mariell knows. In 2015, she decided to launch the PHIDAWORLD label. With the Swiss Arlette Spielmann, Mariell met in Buenos Aires in 2019 a person with great passion for travel, culture and design. Arlette lives the values of sustainability, ethics and aesthetics and is excited to bring this philosophy of Phida to Europe. Arlette co-designs the label Phidaworld and is excited to represent it in Switzerland.
