NATALIE MARTIN

NATALIE MARTIN was born in Australia, and now resides in Los Angeles, where she launched her brand in 2011. Natalie gets her inspiration from traveling around the world. Her most favorite and signature fabrics are inspired by ages old batik prints of Bali. She uses the batik prints to give her brand a uniqueness. The brand’s style is relaxed, carefree, and glamorous. All the pieces are handmade in Bali. Natalie Martin produces small batches to make her brand feel even more exclusive.

Batik is a centuries old craft performed by the finest artisans in Indonesia. This painstaking process involves the technique of manual wax-resist dying. Once the fabric is painted with wax designs, it is placed in a dye bath where only the areas with no wax are dyed. The wax is then removed with boiling water, and repeated if multiple colors are desired. Because this process is all done by hand (not one machine involved) and then dried by the sun, you will find some color and printing differences between fabrics and products. This is what gives the brand’s collection its unique charm, and makes each piece special.
