Founded in 2015 by Australian sisters Ilona Hamer and Peta Heinsen, MATTEAU is a modern lifestyle brand that creates swimwear and resort wear for women. The brand – whose name is a union of “matt” (not shiny) and “eau” the French word for “water” – aptly designs pieces for beachside or poolside lounging that are far from shiny or glitzy: for Matteau it’s all about pared back simplicity, clean lines and classic silhouettes. The range focuses on one and two-piece swimsuits in a deliberately modest range of flattering, neutral colours as well as loose fitting sundresses and skirts, wide-legged trousers and shirts that will take you from pool to patio. With an aesthetic that transcends trends, Matteau works in close partnership with their Australian manufacturers to maintain the highest level of quality and to ensure that their products can be worn season after season.
