The Japanese based brand CAV EMPT is the brainchild of designer Sk8thing (formerly of BAPE). The graphics and motives of the brand feature ironic meanings often with social commentary in a style that relates to the early ’90s hacker culture. Cav Empt itself is a shortened form of the Latin phrase “caveat emptor,” or “let the buyer beware.”
