French brand ATALAYE was born in the southwestern coastal town of Biarritz – a destination world-known for its sun-drenched beaches and surf culture à la française. Meaning “promontory” in the traditional Basque language, Atalaye is a brand whose DNA is well-and-truly anchored in the Bay of Biscay. The brand specialises in men’s swim trunks and works with specialised swimwear workshops in Portugal to create premium quality bathers, conceived with durability and comfort in mind. In a bid to reduce ocean plastic, the brand has partnered with SEAQUAL™, a Madrid-based company whose mission is to collect harmful marine waste and upcycle it into textile fibres. These fibres are then woven and transformed into a fast-drying, anti-bacterial and anti-UV fabric. The result is a hard-wearing, ultra-comfortable short that is available in a wide range of colours and patterns.
