Growing up in Zambia, ALIGHIERI‘s founder Rosh Mahtani spent her childhood collecting ‘magical’ stones. Inspired by the tales of her grandparents leaving India in 1944 with just the few pieces of jewellery they owned, she has long felt the importance of family heirlooms and protective talismans. So, when her move to London provoked her to question her identity and sense of belonging, it was in Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy that she found solace, prompting her to create her own jewellery brand in 2014. From medallions and amulets, to signets and zodiac necklaces, each piece is imbued with its own story and reference. Using the ancient practice of lost wax casting, Rosh herself sculpts the pieces from her London workshop, before they are cast in bronze and recycled sterling silver or gold at a local foundry, and set with ethically sourced pearls, diamonds, and gemstones.
