1/8 Takamura is an apparel and accessories studio based in Mexico City that firmly believes in the construction of meaning through its designs. Beyond seeing garments as objects in use and disuse, it thinks of them as positive contributions to the way we act and conceive this world.
1/8 Takamura’s aesthetic is timeless and considers memory as the aesthetic essence of his creations, which dialogue with garments from Mexico, Japan and in general, the world, always in search of universality. His character is intimately associated with technique and matter. A fundamental interest is in technique because it is materialized in abstractions of form that make visible their own ancestral paths and those of the discipline of fashion itself. The matter is also a search that transfers content to their creations, because through it stories are told and contributes positively to its users and the world in which we live. In short, for 1/8 Takamura, fashion has the power to tell stories, to create intimate connections with the wearer, to build and contribute meanings that are relevant to our environment today.
The universe of 1/8 Takamura is composed of 4 lines: Industrial, Artisanal, Playroom/Playground and Collaborations, these explorations have allowed to weave stories in relation to all the values that spin the brand.
