TIPI KERAMIK‘s founder, Barbara Postiasi, spends her childhood on her parents’ farm in Lower Austria. The close relationship with nature and working with her hands shape her career in the following. In her youth she discovers the vibrant life of the city of Vienna. Later she moves to Zurich. After many years of urbanity, she wants to give her closeness to nature and her love for handmade things more space again and thereupon attends pottery courses. In the creation of ceramic objects she finds her personal language of form and she decides to make her new passion her profession.
She develops a special fascination for the Japanese Raku firing technique. The work with the four elements, the natural processes of this centuries-old manufacturing method captivate her. Barbara Postiasi shapes all ceramic objects by hand and fires them at 1000 degrees low-fire.
“The work with the four elements, the natural processes of this centuries-old manufacturing method captivate me,” she enthuses.
