ROYAL KNIT products are made from the purest baby alpaca wool and carry the beauty of the Peruvian high mountains. Alpaca wool, with its cashmere-like feel, is among the finest and warmest of natural fibers and was once reserved for the Inca kings. All Royal Knit products are handmade and based on family-transmitted craftsmanship combined with innovative techniques. The workers are informed about new trends and supported in their further education.
Royal Knit was founded in the 1970s by Caritas volunteers Benita and Sebastian in Puno, Peru, as an entrepreneurial self-help organization to help local small producers market their knitted and woven home textiles. The company later passed to the Peruvian Lopez family, who are still responsible for it today. Meanwhile, the company employs about 300 weavers. Thanks to social responsibility, constant innovation and modern design, Royal Knit has become a fair trade success story. Royal Knit has been WFTO certified since 2012.
