RAQUEL ALLEGRA was born in Berkeley to artisan parents, and her formative years encouraged a creative process of instinct, experiment and play. Raquel’s design career grew naturally with the origination of a shredding technique synonymous with the namesake label. Full length webbed cocoon shapes evolved out of laborious experiments with oversized vintage tees recycled from the Los Angeles County Prison System and informed a new informal beauty within the industry.
With the exception of some of her knitwear, everything is manufactured and dyed in Los Angeles. Each one of her tie dye pieces is individually hand tied and dyed. She is also proud to support the CanopyStyle campaign to protect ancient and endangered forests during the fabric choice selection.
