In 1984, EILEEN FISHER started her brand for a very personal reason: she was having trouble getting dressed. She kept seeing simple shapes for clothes in her mind . She knew they had to be beautiful colors, great fabrics and have certain shapes and proportions. This was Eileen’s “aha” moment: a system of shapes that worked together and made getting dressed easy. Although Eileen couldn’t sew and only had $350 in the bank, she designed four shapes and took them to The Boutique Show in New York. That’s how the business began—with $3,000 in orders.
Today, Eileen believes that business can make a positive difference in the world. The company is committed to using recycled and sustainable fibers as well as environmentally friendly production and dying processes. All factories are Bluesign standard certified and reduced water usage by 25% or more.
